Ella Mazurek
"Hi, my name is Ella (she/her), and I am a Chicago native currently finishing my Bachelor of Social Work at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, where I will also be pursuing my Masters of Social Work. Through my years of experience working with children and youth in a variety of supportive settings, I have shaped my passion for creating accesible and compassionate care. To learn moreabout my work experience below you can find my professional philosophy statement and my resume! "

My decision to pursue social work is rooted in my personal experiences and my commitment to equity. During my adolescence, I worked with a social worker while navigating family issues, which shaped my understanding of the profession’s impact. I learned that meaningful support is grounded in consistency, ethical practice, and a strengths-based approach. Growing up in diverse communities in Chicago further reinforced my belief that social work must address systemic inequities while honoring the dignity and resilience of individuals and families.
My professional philosophy centers on ethical responsibility and intentional advocacy. I believe social workers must balance empathy with boundaries and individual support with structural awareness. I am particularly committed to working with children and families, and LGBTQ+ communities, who may face barriers to affirming care. I want to be a professional who creates spaces that feel both safe and empowering.
